Program LIVES Week 13 Recap

This past Thursay, April 30, marked Week 13 with the current group of Program LIVES participants.

At this past week's session, Taylor and Kim played Taboo with the group. At first, excitement was reserved but as the game progressed, the participants really started to enjoy the experience and the thrill of winning. It was a great bonding experience between the group leaders and the group participants.

After Taboo, the group leaders spoke with the group participants about the future of the program. For now, we are shifting to a more mentor-centric model. As mentioned in last week's blog, our goal is to help as many people as we can but until numbers increase, we are very happy to have the opportunity to spend more time 1 on 1 with the current participants.

As the summer is fast approaching, the group leaders took time to speak with the group participants about their summer plans. Some will be continuing their education over the summer while others just look to stay busy.

The dicussion then shifted to the current climate in Baltimore. As this week was a week of great unrest, it was an important discussion to have and the group participants displayed maturity beyond their years throughout the discussion. The discussion revolved around ways to fix the issue of police brutality and also ways to get people to stop rioting as the belief amoung the group members was that the riots were taking away from the main issue of how to fix police brutality. Throughout, the group members expressed disappointment in the rioters and they expressed hope that the rioting and looting would come to an end soon.

That's all for this week. As always, thank you for your continued support!
